Community Campout

Settle in for an overnight under the stars at the Jones Center’s North Community Park during the third annual Community Campout, part of the Summer in the City series. Designed with first-time campers in mind, this family-friendly experience offers guidance on pitching a tent and basic outdoor skills, with staff available to help throughout. Expect hands-on learning and play with pop-up activities like wilderness know-how, nature exploration, and creative projects for kids. The evening and morning bring campfire cooking, outdoor games, live music, a late-night movie, and a yoga session the whole family can enjoy. Dinner features hot dogs and hamburgers with toppings, chips, and sodas. Dessert is make-your-own s’mores, and breakfast includes a yogurt bar, fruit, and muffins. Campsites fit up to six people. During registration you can select a two, four, or six person tent while supplies last, or bring your own. All ages are welcome, and anyone 17 or younger must be with an adult. The price is per campsite, at $50 for the public and $40 for members. The camping area sits in a fenced, secure spot on the west side of campus with security on site at all times. On-site restrooms, easy parking, and convenient unloading make setup simple. Bring lawn chairs, bedding, and anything else you need for a comfortable sleepover.
