🗓 Sunday, September 6, 2026🕐 1:30 PM CTArt Studio

📍 Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art600 Museum Way, Bentonville, AR, USA

Discover traditional basketry in a hands-on, six-week course led by basket weaver Phylis Sixkiller. Working with natural reeds, participants build core weaving skills while reflecting on how utilitarian baskets can also hold stories, memories, and care. The first session centers on making a small basket from a prepared starter base to establish technique and confidence. After that, learners design and create a larger basket from the ground up, receiving guidance on shaping, developing patterns, and finishing a unique piece. The course includes a visit to the galleries to view historical and contemporary examples, encouraging thoughtful connections between form, pattern, and material choices and the traditions that inspire each maker. Materials are provided. Tickets are $220.88, or $184.06 for members and for adults 25 and under.
