Indigenous Ecology & Wild Foods Workshop

Indigenous Ecology & Wild Foods Workshop

Group Workshopmumbai🕑 By group booking · 7:30 AM–2:30 PM (7 hrs)

Run by the Waghoba Habitat Foundation — a registered nonprofit (Section 8, 80G/12A) connecting forests, indigenous people and climate action — this is a seven-hour Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) field trip in the tribal heartland of Mumbai's Aarey Forest, the last surviving forest inside a megacity. Indigenous knowledge-keepers guide your group through a 'wild foods foraging walk': village and forest hikes, wild-food foraging, Warli art, sustainable mud architecture, ethnobotany, natural farming and a forest-sourced wild-foods lunch — a 360°, five-senses immersion into indigenous culture, ecology and human-wild coexistence. Aarey is home to roughly 10,000 adivasis across 27 hamlets and the world's densest urban leopard population. This is a group-only experience — you book as a group of 4 to 25 people, not individually — and it runs year-round. Everyone gets the full 7:30 AM–2:30 PM programme: introductions, an organic-farm and tribal-village visit, breakfast, a guided forest walk and foraging, wild-tuber excavation and a communal wild-foods lunch. The per-head cost drops the bigger your group: 4–6 people ₹6,000, 8–9 ₹4,500, 10–19 ₹3,500, 20–24 ₹2,500. Proceeds fund wild-food-plant conservation, tribal livelihoods and tree plantation in Aarey and Karjat. Bring water, mosquito repellent, full pants and closed shoes, carry your trash back, and flag any allergies in advance. Book via foundation@waghoba.org or +91 98922 12133.
